The RAK10706 is a low-cost LoRa and LoRaWAN coverage tester. Small, equipped with a low-power 1.3” OLED display and a 3200mAh battery, it provides a long use time without the need to recharge.

It provides coverage tests for LoRaWAN with any LoRaWAN server that supports LinkCheck (LoRaWAN standard function). There is no need for a cloud-based backend. It will provide the number of gateways in range, the RSSI and SNR value of the received downlink, and the demodulation margin, which is the link margin in dB of the received LinkCheckReq command.

For LoRa P2P coverage tests it supports both receiving and sending of LoRa P2P data packets and the option to use custom payloads, which can be setup through AT commands. It provides the RSSI and SNR value of the received P2P packet.

In addition, basic functions of the Helium/LoRaWAN field tester are implemented. This function requires a cloud backend to receive and process the information of packets send out.

The device setup can be changed in the field without the need to connect with a computer. An easy-to-use settings UI can be controlled with the single user button of the device.

A battery switch that disconnects the battery from the electronics ensures minimal self-discharge of the battery while not in use. The battery can be recharged while the device is switched off through its USB port.

Optional, the device can be ordered with an SD-Card module. The test results will be saved on the SD card in CSV format for further processing after the testing.

The included enclosure features an RP-SMA antenna connector, an integrated 1.3” OLED display and a user button to control the display content.
